President Thabo Mbeki Extends Condolences to Morocco

President Thabo Mbeki, on Tuesday 24 February 2004, extended South Africa's most heartfelt and deepest condolences to King Mohamed VI, and the Government of Morocco following the devastating earthquake on Tuesday, that left over 200 people dead and scores of others wounded.

President Mbeki has assured King Mohamed VI that "during this moment of great sorrow and bereavement the thoughts and prayers of South Africans are with the Government and people of the Kingdom of Morocco and in particular with the families and friends of the victims of this devastating earthquake" said President Thabo Mbeki.

"Please accept Your majesty on behalf of the government and people of South Africa our sincere and heartfelt condolences during this difficult moment" concluded President Thabo Mbeki
