South African Government confirms the death of two Citizens in Doha, Qatar

The Department of International Relations and Cooperation can confirm that two South African citizens have perished in a fire that broke out yesterday, Monday, 28 May 2012, at the Villaggio Mall in Doha, Qatar.  

The two include a 28-year-old female teacher who worked at the mall’s day care centre and an 18-month-old toddler who was at the day care centre.

The South African Embassy in Doha is in touch with families of the deceased and is rendering consular assistance to them.

The South African Government would like to express its heartfelt condolences to the Government and people of Qatar, and especially the families of the deceased, following the blaze that is reported to have killed 19 people.
