History of Relations

South Africa and Papua New Guinea do not have permanent missions in the respective countries. Diplomatic relations were established in 1994 on RSA's return to the Commonwealth.

Papua New Guinea has no representation in South Africa. The Australian Diplomatic Representatives are in charge of the Consular interests of Papua New Guinea in the Republic of South Africa.

Climate Info

Papua New Guinea has a tropical climate and warm seas. It is generally hot and humid. There are distinct wet and dry seasons and the timing varies from one region to another. There are "micro-climates" in the highlands. The most common wet season falls between November and April and the dry season between May and October.
