History of
Relations
South Africa and the Republic of the Sudan established
diplomatic relations in 1994. The first South African non-resident Ambassador
Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Sudan, Ambassador WAW Nhlapo presented
his Credentials to President Omar Hassan Al-Bashir on 12 December 1995.
The current South African Ambassador to the Sudan is Ambassador RJM Mampane. Sudan
has an Embassy in South Africa headed by Ambassador K Alor.

Health
requirements
Yellow fever vaccination is strongly
recommended. Depending on circumstances, and where the traveller intends to visit
in Sudan, malaria, cholera, and hepatitis A and B may be required.

Climate Info
The
country is hot and dry and hot and humid in the rainy season. Climatic regions
vary with the South being equatorial, centre semi-equatorial, north desert, east
Mediterranean. Winter months are from November to January when temperatures can
drop to single digits at night.
Summer is from March to July and coincides
with the rainy season. Summer temperatures can reach as high as 45 degrees Celcius
during the day.
